C8051F330GM Microcontroller Development Board Kit
This product is the unassembled kit version of the C8051F330GM Microcontroller Development Board. The kit contains the same 4.00″ x 2.50″ PCB and components found on the pre-assembled dev board. A complete Microcontroller Wiring Kit (shorting jumpers, jumper wires, and JTAG ribbon cable) is included with the dev board kit. Once assembled, the kit serves as a development platform for the C8051F330-GM MCU manufactured by Silicon Labs. This microcontroller is designed around the legacy CIP-51 eight-bit core processor and is rich in peripherals, including a variety of timers and a high-resolution current-sourcing digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
The development board contains op amp current-to-voltage conversion circuitry especially designed to convert the output of the MCU's current DAC to a voltage ranging form nearly 0.2 VDC to 5.0VDC. The board also contains a four-channel transistor buffer network that allows the MCU to drive higher-voltage, higher power loads such as stepper motors. The board is especially designed for student experimentation, with easily accessible test points, jumper locations, and a JTAG connector that allows easy interfacing with the ancillary Microcontroller Display Board.
The C8051F330-GM Module, included with the kit, is easily programmed from the user's PC, via the C2 interface, using the Silicon Labs DEBUGADPTR1-USB Debug Adapter (not included). While the C8051F330-GM MCU is manufactured in a tiny QFN-20 SMD package, the 8051F330GM Module serves as a convenient transition board for that IC, fabricated in a standard DIP-20 configuration. The C8051F330GM Microcontroller Development Board contains a DIP-20 ZIF socket which allows easy insertion and removal of the C8051F330-GM Module.

There are several detailed theory lessons and laboratory exercises designed specifically for this board. Students will be given a thorough introduction to assembly language programming as they learn to exercise the various functions of the CIP-51 core and MCU peripherals. They will then have the opportunity to program the C8051F330GM MCU in C language.
